Fluent Technical Onboarding: Epicor
This guide walks you through everything needed to connect Fluent to Epicor Kinetic. It has two parts: work you complete in Epicor before the onboarding meeting, and the configuration we finish together during the meeting.
Part 1: Before the meeting
These steps only require access to your Epicor instance. Completing them in advance makes the onboarding meeting quick and smooth.
Create an Epicor integration user for Fluent
Create a dedicated Epicor user for Fluent. This is a service account, not an individual employee account. During the meeting, we will assign it an access scope, so the password never expires and security is managed through the access scope.
Go to User Account Maintenance.
Fill out User ID and Name.
Under Authentication, select Enable Account.
Log in as the user and reset the user's password.
Generate an Epicor API key
Go to API Key Maintenance and click Create New.
Save the key in a secure place, like a password manager. You will need it to finish onboarding.
During the meeting, we will associate this API key with the Fluent access scope. Providing an API key also means the connection uses Epicor's v2 REST authentication.
Make sure your Epicor API is accessible over the internet
Fluent interacts with Epicor Kinetic via its REST API, so your Epicor instance must be reachable over the internet.
If you are hosted in Epicor's cloud (for example,
https://yourcompany.epicorsaas.com), no action is typically required. If you are on-premise or your organization enforces stricter network controls (for example, IP allowlisting), allow inbound traffic from Fluent's outbound IP addresses: 3.147.233.158, 3.16.223.87, and 3.17.236.197.
If your environment does not restrict inbound traffic by IP, no action is required.
If you hit connectivity problems, check that the Epicor hostname resolves in public DNS and the URL is reachable from outside your network, verify the integration user's credentials and API access permissions, and confirm the SSL certificate is valid and not expired. Self-signed certificates work, but are discouraged.
Have your connection details ready
During the meeting, you will enter the following into Fluent, so have them ready:
URL: the base URL of your Epicor Kinetic instance (for example,
https://yourcompany.epicorsaas.com)Username: the integration user's username
Password: the integration user's password
Company ID: the Epicor company identifier that matches your Epicor configuration
API Key: the key you generated earlier
Part 2: During the meeting
We will complete these steps together during the onboarding meeting. Make sure the people who completed Part 1, your Epicor administrator and IT team, join the call.
Create your Fluent account
Go to www.fluenterp.com/signup.
Complete the registration form: first name, last name, company email address, password, and the Invite Code provided by someone on the Fluent team.
Your email address and password will serve as your personal credentials for accessing Fluent.
Create your team
Enter a name for your team within Fluent. You can invite the rest of your team, including your IT team, once onboarding is complete.
Select an agent and Epicor
Choose the agent you would like to use for your trial.
Choose Epicor as the ERP system you would like to connect to Fluent.
Download and import the access scope
Download the required Access Scope from the connection setup screen. This is the minimal set of services and methods that your Fluent agent requires.
Import it into Epicor via Security Management > Access Scope Maintenance. (To build a scope manually instead, see Create an access scope in Epicor.)
Assign the access scope to the integration user you created before the meeting. Epicor will show a warning asking you to confirm that this user will become an integration account whose password does not expire. Click yes.
In API Key Maintenance, associate the access scope with the API key you created before the meeting.
Connect Fluent to Epicor
Provide the Epicor instance URL, the integration user's username and password, the Company ID, and the API key. Then:
Click Connect.
Verify connectivity, and review and adjust as needed until the connection is successfully established.
Your Fluent team is now created, with an agent and connection pre-configured and ready for testing.
